Carry on!

The last time I journaled here was in May?  That's crap.

I don't think there is one part of this pathetic body that doesn't ache, creak, groan or moan right now.  I have two very large, very "almost-unattainable" semi-long term goals that I am grinding away at, which is adding to the unpleasant bodily discomfort.  The first being that I want to run an Ironman Triathlon in 2013, the year before I turn 30.  The Ironman is the longest distance of all triathlons and the ultimate of endurance sports, comprised of a 2.4 mile swim, a 113-mile bike and then followed by a marathon run, 26.2 miles.  Recently I ran a half marathon with my sister in Orlando, that was fun.  It got me off my butt and got me going again.  It made me realize that I really can do something if I put my mind to it.  So since them I have joined a gym, I am swimming three nights a week and running another three, with one day "off" and I haven't found time to bike quite yet.

And my second goal, to ride and compete at Grand Prix level dressage, which doesn't necessarily have a time limit because I don't really know how long it would take to get there, over the next 10 years to be sure.  Either way, with a goal that large and that far off, every day it still comes down to the choice of me riding that next horse and working for the next micro-mini-milli-goal that I can achieve.  I have three of my horses I'm working with right now; each of them are in various stages of training, each of them with veeery unique learning styles, and each with their difficulties.  I will explain more in detail later about my work with them, because not only do I find it fascinating, I started this blog again with the purpose of specifically writing about my progress with them as I go along.

But going back to the achy-body thing in the beginning, this is where I will leave for now and go to bed.  At some point, after I've ridden and worked in the barn all day, spent a couple of hours in the gym in the evenings and on top of it all done the housework and other family chores, my arms and legs just about feel like they're gonna fall off.  :)
